5 Authentic Margarita Recipes to guide you through Margarita Month


In case you missed it, February is Margarita Month and do you know what that means? No matter where the hand is on the clock, it’s all-out margarita time. But while you may know how to spice up the OG, we’re here to show you how to shake things up and tackle the old classic with a spicy, zesty, or fresh twist.

To help us do that, we’ve teamed up with tequila lords Patrón to bring you five authentic margarita recipes that will ignite that holiday spirit and carry you through Margarita Month and beyond.

Spicy Margarita

A tasty twist on the OG, this cocktail is fun when guests arrive and things heat up.


45 ml Patron Silver with Jalapeño*
15 ml agave syrup
90 ml lime juice
Lime wedge and sliced ​​jalapeño for garnish


– Mix all ingredients in a shaker with ice.
– Shake and strain into a salt-rimmed double old fashioned glass.
– *For the Jalapeño-infused Patrón Silver: Add two whole jalapeños, cut in half and seeded, and place in a bottle of Patrón Silver and let steep for 12 hours.

Flamingo Park Margarita

This extravagant and delicious concoction won Margarita of the Year for 2019, so know it’s a treat. Although there are a few special ingredients, it’s super easy to whip up.


45ml Patron Reposado
15ml Lemon orange liqueur
30 ml grapefruit sparkling water
22.5 ml fresh lime juice
22.5 ml Rich Agave Syrup
15ml martin bitters
Tajín, sea salt and black pepper crust*
Optional: dried lime wheel for garnish


– Fill a stemmed highball glass with the Tajín, sea salt and black pepper mixture.
– Combine spirits, agave syrup and lime juice in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake to cool.
– Strain onto fresh ice in a long drink glass.
– Top up with grapefruit sparkling water and stir.
– Garnish with a dried lime wheel.
– *Tajín/Sea Salt/Black Pepper Crust: two parts Tajín: one part Maldon Sea Salt: one part black pepper

Honey Ginger Margarita

A sweet and tangy concoction you can create with a few pantry staples, the Honey Ginger Margarita is a subtle but satisfying twist on the classic.


60ml cartridge silver
30 ml honey syrup
30 ml fresh lime juice
3 ginger coins


– In the bottom of a mixing bowl, mash 2 ginger coins (round slices of fresh ginger about a quarter size) with the honey syrup.*
– Add Patron Silver and lime juice; shake vigorously with ice to cool.
– Strain into a double old fashioned glass over fresh ice.
– Garnish with a lime wheel and a ginger coin.
– *Honey syrup: Combine honey and warm water in equal parts and stir until honey is completely dissolved.

Watermelon Basil Margarita

Perfectly blending the fruity flavor of watermelon with the herbal flavors of basil, this refreshing margarita is like an Italian summer vacation in a glass.


45ml Patron Reposado
30 ml Fresh watermelon juice or puree
30 ml fresh lime juice
30 ml agave syrup
Watermelon wedge or dried lime wheel for garnish


– Mix ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake with ice to cool.
– Strain into a double old fashioned glass over fresh ice.
– Garnish with a basil leaf and a slice of watermelon or a dried lime wheel.

Cucumber Coconut Margarita

If you love coconut like we do, this margarita is the perfect mix of summer freshness – make sure your glass is chilled and your mood even more chilled.


45ml cartridge silver
60 ml coconut water
15 ml fresh lime juice
15ml Simple Sugar Syrup
7 thin cucumber slices, 3 for garnish


– Combine all ingredients (including 4 of the cucumber slices) in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously with ice to cool.
– Strain into a highball glass over fresh ice.
– Garnish with the remaining 3 cucumbers.
