Agave Bandido Mexican restaurant planned for Lakewood Ranch

Agave Bandido, a Mexican-inspired restaurant and tequila bar, is the latest dining and entertainment venue announced for downtown Waterside Place at Lakewood Ranch.

A 4,000-square-foot restaurant with an indoor bar is planned, offering more than 250 tequilas and mezcals. Additionally, there would be a 2,000-square-foot patio with a separate alfresco bar on miles of Kingfisher Lake.

Proposed opening date: late 2022.

“Our focus has always been to grow in desirable suburban areas that may have few hot spots for dining and nightlife,” said Mathew Baum, president of Wolverine Management, in a press release.

“People want an exciting dining experience without having to drive half an hour into town. Agave Bandido‘s cuisine and vibe offer those vibrant downtown elements in the comfort of home,” Baum said.

Lakewood Ranch Agave Bandido would be the company’s second location. The first is at Pembroke Pines.

“What excited us most about Lakewood Ranch is their strong sense of community and emphasis on events and lifestyle, which is what we are all about. Waterside Place is the perfect place for our fun, high-energy brand,” said Chief Operating Officer Matt Faul in the press release.

Agave Bandido offers guests handcrafted cocktails and a full menu of dishes prepared daily in-house with fresh ingredients. The restaurant will feature many of the same design aesthetics as its flagship Pembroke Pines location, including eye-catching murals and decorations.

“The goal is to transform Waterside Place into a regional foodie destination where residents and visitors can enjoy a diverse array of dining experiences,” said Kirk Boylston, President of Lakewood Ranch Commercial, in the press release.

Waterside Village is planned for more than 5,000 homes for sale and rent in a variety of neighborhoods ranging in value from $280,000 to over $2 million and is located in the Sarasota County portion of Lakewood Ranch.

All neighborhoods are connected to Waterside Place by walking trails, and many homes are also taken downtown by water taxis.

Schroeder-Manatee Ranch, the developer of Lakewood Ranch, broke ground on Waterside Place in 2018. The city center is situated on a 36 hectare peninsula.

The Good Liquid Brewing Company opened a brewery and restaurant on Waterside Place in December.

Also announced for downtown are Kore, an Asian-inspired restaurant with Korean barbecue, Osteria 500, an Italian restaurant, and Forked at Waterside.
