There is a lot to write about new restaurants in a rapidly developing city, but resorting to the older establishments that have stood the test of time is also furious.

The DOC Gastronomia Italiana has been one of the most popular Italian restaurants in town since it opened in 2013. It was one of the first places with an industrial flair and has still retained this character.

The eatery moved from its previous location on Dongping Road to Dagu Road in late 2018 and has since attracted many from the neighborhood and beyond. The outdoor area overlooking the busy street is the perfect place for people watching where crowds gather day and night.

The DOC team is dedicated to hearty Italian cuisine, and since the beginning of September guests have been invited to enjoy sweet, fun-loving and delicious plates of fresh pasta prepared with love by chef Gino Fan.

The special homemade fresh pasta menu celebrates the true essence of Italian cuisine. Pasta is serious business in Italy: Eating a good plate of pasta is very important on both a family and a cultural level. And if there are still travel restrictions, a hearty pasta dish will put you in a good mood and take you away to the sun-drenched Mediterranean.

“The introduction of a fresh pasta menu makes for a more authentic Italian experience that sets us apart from other Italian locations in the city,” said Todd Pearson, Managing Director of Camel Hospitality Group.

Spaghetti alla Marinara is a popular pasta dish on the south coast of Italy.

Fresh pasta is made from flour, eggs and water. The dough is prepared, then kneaded and shaped into pasta shapes that we know and love.

At DOC, pasta is made every day from imported Italian flour “Caputo Semola”. The special menu includes five classic pasta dishes, from spaghetti alla marinara and fettuccini carbonara to lasagne Emiliana.

Spaghetti alla Marinara (178 yuan) is a popular pasta dish on the south coast of Italy. Here it comes on a larger plate that is good for sharing. Al dente cooked spaghetti is soaked in the divinely luxurious sauce made from a mixture of seafood, chives, garlic and fresh chillies – a good combination with a glass of Cortese di Gavi. The fresh pasta menu is available until the end of October.
