Doha: The three-time world champion Mutaz Barshim looks back on his fourth final victory in the Diamond League in Zurich today.

The Qatari legend will face well-known rival and co-Olympic champion Gianmarco Tamberi, with the Italian aiming to retain the title he won last year.

The final will take place today at 19:00 Qatar time outside the stadium on Sechselautenplatz.

Since the World Championships in Oregon, where Barshim successfully defended his title and Tamberi finished fourth, the two have competed together in Monaco and Lausanne.

While Tamberi is yet to reach the peak of his Tokyo exploits, Barshim has been consistent this season, albeit not at his best.

The Qatari won in Monaco and then finished second in Lausanne.

The 31-year-old now wants to end the season on a high.

“I’m looking forward to getting out there, making some good jumps and ending my season on a high,” he said yesterday.

Barschim’s main opponent today will be Ukrainian world bronze medalist Andriy Protsenko, who won in difficult conditions in Lausanne.

They will battle for the top spot in Zurich alongside USA’s JuVaughn Harrison, who won in Rome, as well as Canadian NACAC Champion and Birmingham Diamond League winner Django Lovett and New Zealand’s Commonwealth Champion Hamish Kerr.

Today’s winner will receive the Diamond Trophy and $30,000 in prize money.
