ART IMMERSION WITH GALLERIA CONTINUA, FOUR CONTEMPORARY MASTERS IN THE GARDENS OF BELMOND

For the reopening of the 2022 season, Belmond has partnered with the internationally acclaimed art gallery Galleria Continua, now recognized as one of the driving forces of the contemporary art scene, highlighting the most accomplished artistic talent.

The project, titled MITICO, marks the beginning of Belmond’s participation in Venice’s biannual arts and culture program. Four artists are celebrated by Belmond and the Galleria Continua as they take the spotlight at Belmond’s famous gardens across Italy.

Exploring the connection between local landscapes and individual sensibilities, the four artists allow the public to see cultures through a different lens, unlocking the essence and beauty of the destination and ultimately evoking a strong sense of inclusivity. Each artist will take center stage at Belmond Hotels, delivering their own message to the world – a message of acceptance and community.

The project begins during the opening week of the Venice Biennale at the Cipriani, where art consultant Hervé Mikaeloff curated the first installation. One of the world’s most renowned Indian artists, Subodh Gupta, will install his work Cooking The World in Casanova Gardens. The piece aims to create a collective ritual space for open discussion.

Three major installations will then be unveiled during the month of May 2022. In Tuscany, Argentine artist Leandro Erlich will install “Window & Ladder” at Villa San Michele, a tribute to the hotel’s incredible location above Florence. Nestled in the Tuscan landscape, the Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto places four Etruscan bronze sculptures called “L’uomo che accarezza gli alberi” in the Castello di Casole.
