Best Yogurt Parfait Recipe – How to make a yogurt parfait

Caitlin Benzel

Yogurt parfaits are the unsung heroes of any healthy breakfast spread. While some scoff at the “fruit cup” when options like breakfast casserole or bacon are on the menu at brunch, a well-layered yogurt parfait can be just as delicious as dessert – and it’s better for you!

Are Yoghurt Parfaits Good For You?

Compared to breakfast favorites like cinnamon roll monkey bread and sausage breakfast casserole, a yogurt parfait is indeed a healthier option! Yogurt has good amounts of protein and vitamin D, while granola and fruit contain healthy fiber and added vitamins and minerals.

What’s in a yoghurt parfait?

Most parfaits are an optional layer that includes yogurt, granola, and fruit. Many recipes call for store-bought cereal; This includes a recipe for homemade granola crunch. Make a batch for the week! It will keep in an airtight food container for up to 7 days.

Which fruit is best for a yoghurt parfait?

Fresh seasonal fruit always makes the best yoghurt parfait. Berries and bananas are popular choices, along with tropical fruits like mango, pineapple, and kiwi. Don’t be afraid of pitted stone fruit like peaches, cherries, plums and nectarines in the summer. And in winter there is always citrus and pomegranate. But if you’re craving strawberries and they’re out of season, don’t worry — a little sugar and a squeeze of lemon juice will really jazz up these off-season fruits.

Which yogurt is best for parfaits?

While it can be tempting to choose a “healthier” option like sugar-free non-fat yogurt, these choices often come at a huge sacrifice in flavor and texture. Opt for whole milk or even reduced-fat yogurt, and look for naturally flavored and sweetened brands that have a purer, richer flavor.
