To begin his culinary journey, Ludacris visits Little Haiti in Miami, Florida with food on his mind. Fascinated by the resilience of the Haitian community, he meets with Haiti-born chef Alain Lemaire to learn the basics of cooking. Luda learns about traditional Haitian flavors and practically learns chicken before learning to prepare some of the region’s most important marinades and dishes. Luda’s lesson culminates in a Haitian-style block party where he puts together a three-course tasting menu for the chefs who trained him as well as accomplished chef and Haitian food expert Gregory Gourdet. In the next episode, Ludacris explores Korean food – because even though he orders Korean takeaway once a week, he doesn’t know the first thing to prepare. He works with Chef Seung Hee Lee in Atlanta to learn all about this unique cuisine, from kimchi and mandu to Korean BBQ. After his crash course in Korean cuisine, he’s put to the test by cooking a three-course meal for celebrity chef Edward Lee and comedian Lil Duval. Finally, Ludacris travels to Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood to master Cuban cuisine with James Beard Award-nominated chef Michael Beltran. He learns about the holy trinity that is the basis of most Cuban meals while remembering the ancient lesson that patience is a virtue.
