Greek Bites Grill & Cafe – already a big foodie favorite in Moriches – will open a new restaurant on the Montauk Highway in Mastic.

The owner of Greek Bites has requested a zoning change on the 1443 Montauk Highway with Brookhaven Town to build a restaurant with seating, deputy mayor Dan Panico announced today on his Facebook account. The address used to be the Manor House restaurant, which was destroyed by fire in 2017.

“We could all soon be able to speak and eat a little more Greek,” Panico quipped on his Facebook post, “as Greek Bites has requested a zone change to build a seating restaurant on the land that was once the mansion house.”

The deputy supervisor said the city received the application today. It has to go in front of the city board and then in front of the city planning board.

“After meeting with the owner a few times, I can confidently say that he was excited and committed to making this a reality,” said Panico.

When Panico shared the news, Facebook commenters sounded enthusiastic.

“Grandpa! What great news! ”Wrote Karen Sonneborn.

Dayna Zamboli Bruno added: “Yes! Please make the process easier for them. “

Greek Bites in Moriches is a popular street eatery on the 183 Montauk Highway in Moriches that has served delicious Mediterranean cuisine for lunch and dinner since it opened in 2007.
