Kingsbury Colombo hires the city’s first female head chef

Kingsbury Colombo is proud to introduce Nonky Tejapermana as its new Executive Chef, responsible for all of the hotel’s dining facilities. She has worked on three continents with experience on land, in the air and at sea and brings her over 25 years of culinary expertise with her.

Born in Indonesia, Nonky started her journey from Shangri-La Jakarta and named both her mother and grandmother as her main inspiration. Her culinary career spans some of the best hotels and resorts around the world including The Regent (Four Seasons) Jakarta, the Michelin-starred Mandarin Oriental, Hyde Park in London, the Thistle Selfridge Hotel London, P&O cruise lines Australia and Celebrity Cruises, the Amilla Resort in the Maldives, Shangri-La Hambantota Golf Resort & Spa Sri Lanka, and her last stop at the Mandarin Oriental Canouan, where she worked as head chef for almost four years. Her time at numerous Michelin-starred hotels and restaurants across the UK has given her Indo-Japanese skills a creative European twist, while Luke Mangan’s eight concept restaurants in Australia have helped Nonky create dishes that demonstrate the flavorful versatility of the ingredients.

“I’m both excited and excited to be a part of The Kingsbury Colombo,” said Nonky. “I look forward to combining the grandeur of this iconic hotel with my cooking techniques and providing a luxurious experience in all of the hotel’s food and beverage departments.”

Chef Nonky arrives just in time for the holidays at The Kingsbury as they go out of their way to bring you a magical festive season with a sumptuous celebratory meal and an abundance of festive moods.
