The locally owned and operated fast-casual restaurant serves pizza with a purpose for the community and celebrates the start of a new mission-based program.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA, USA, September 27, 2021 / – Church Restaurant Group, LLC is celebrating its fourth year at Malawi’s Pizza Fredericksburg … Pizza with a Purpose® in the village at Spotsylvania Towne Center. Malawi’s Pizza – Pizza with a purpose® is a fast-casual dining concept that serves gourmet pizzas, pastas, salads and desserts with the freshest ingredients, all within minutes of ordering.

“We are very excited to be moving through the difficulties of the pandemic,” said owner Patrick Church. Patrick and his wife Rebecca are grappling with traffic loss in the mall, labor shortages, and supply chain issues to keep them open and uninterrupted. “It was really the local, loyal patrons who carried us through this difficult time,” said Church. Part of their approach to not just surviving but thriving has been developing theirs Malawi’s pizza food truck. The Fredericksburg Region Chamber of Commerce will attend an official ribbon cutting ceremony in honor of this expansion of their business and to celebrate their 4th birthday, the couple and son Benjamin.

“Just as important as fresh and created by the chef Menu items, Malawi’s Pizza prides itself on an unparalleled commitment to corporate social responsibility with its award-winning Meal for Meal® Exchange program, ”Church said. For every meal bought at a restaurant in Malawi, a nutrient-rich meal is donated to a child in Malawi, Africa. Malawi’s “Journey to a Million Meals” was achieved last year. The couple will reveal the new “Meals Served” number at the front desk immediately after the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Concepts like that of Malawi touch a lot of Americans who also happen to love pizza. “Consumers are interested in making their dining experience more meaningful,” said Dr. Ben Litalien, founder and CEO of Franchise Well, which developed the model for Malawi. “They want transparency in the menu, in the cooking methods, and even in ownership, with an emphasis on local origins. Malawi’s is contemporary and of course appeals to experience-oriented consumers, with an open format and the commitment to make a difference through the food donation program. Pizza with a purpose® is more than a marketing tactic, it is a serious obligation on the company to pass it on to those in need. Customers can make a difference by eating at a local Malawi as every purchase supports children in need and builds Malawi’s local economy by funding farmers and businesses that provide meals for these children, ”Litalien said. Now the couple are embarking on a new mission called “Feed FXBG,” where local businesses can contact Malawis to meet the hunger in our local community. “It’s exciting to make a difference in Malawi, but it’s just as important to make a difference in the local community,” said Church.
