Positano. It’s a destination loved by the stars, where the scenic (and hilly) roads have been walked by the likes of you Megan MarkleSiena Miller Bradley Cooper Reese Witherspoonand more recently the cast of Sell sunset.

The Stunning Italian The village on the Amalfi Coast is one of the most popular and photographed in the area and it’s easy to see why. The terracotta-colored houses on the cliffs leading down to the busy beach make the perfect Instagram backdrop, as do the winding, narrow streets lined with boutique shops and alfresco restaurants.

But the best view of this charming and posh village is undoubtedly from Hotel Eden Roc Suites. The hotel is only ten minutes away from the beach and the center of the lively shopping street hotel has a top position. It’s an easy-to-navigate route into the hustle and bustle of the city, and the panoramic views of the sea and Positano as you approach won’t tire you.

The four-star hotel sits slightly higher than other hotels in Positano, offering guests the best views, be it from the rooms, the pool, the rooftop bar, or the Mediterranean restaurant, which serves an excellent breakfast.

The Hotel Eden Roc Suites exudes luxury and values modern and elegant furnishings. We stayed in a superior sea view room which was bathed in natural light and had a small terrace overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. Waking up and drawing the curtains to a myriad of boats and sparkling blue waters never gets old.

Everything is literally as convenient as a push of a button, from the touch panel switches to control your bedroom lights and the rain shower in the bathroom to the USB ports by your bedside. The standard services you would expect from a four star hotel have been provided such as a minibar, smart TV, tea and coffee station, fluffy bathrobes and slippers, and amenities in the beautifully tiled and spacious bathroom. Elegant and comfortable, that’s how you would describe the rooms at the Hotel Eden Roc Suites.

The elegant and modern rooms at the Hotel Eden Roc Suites

The hotel’s public areas are at the top of the property, where you’ll find some of the best views of Positano. There’s a small rooftop plunge pool with a few loungers that would be sufficient for a dip and a cool dip during the sultry Amalfi Coast summer, but it’s not big enough for doing laps — if sport is on your list during your vacation stands!

One of the hotel’s selling points is definitely the Sky Bar. While it can be boiled down to the decor, it lets the view do the talking and really puts Positano in the frame. Great cocktails and nibbles are served here and it’s the perfect spot for a sundowner, and you’ll queue behind other diners to pose for that Instagram-worthy snap on the terrace as the sky turns from blue to pink to orange .

Directly above the Sky Bar and also with a breathtaking panoramic view is the Adam and Eve restaurant, which you must visit. Many restaurants in Positano serve pretty average food for the tourist crowds and we found that our best dinner of the trip was at the hotel restaurant where we could enjoy the sight of Positano lit up at night.

With an emphasis on traditional Mediterranean cuisine and fresh seafood given the village’s proximity to the sea, the menu features dishes such as seared squid, roasted sea bass, citrus-scented lobster salad and the must-order Mazara red shrimp risotto. In addition, organic ingredients are picked from the garden whenever possible. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making for a wonderful evening.

Breakfast is also served in the same restaurant, meaning guests are treated to the same incredible view the next day. Booking.com travelers rate it as “excellent” so we had high hopes for the breakfast and it really didn’t disappoint.

The buffet catered for every appetite and dietary requirement, from continental pastries and breads to Italian ham and cheese. There was also a decent range of cooked hot food including eggs, bacon and sausage or the option to order omelettes. Health-conscious people will be happy about the colorful range of fruit, yoghurt and muesli as well as the freshly squeezed juices. Tony, the energetic host, also took great pride in making sure each table was never short of his freshly made coffee.

Rooms at the Hotel Eden Roc Suites fill up quickly and it’s easy to see why. With a Booking.com rating of 9.4, there’s little to complain about at the hotel. If you’re lucky enough to be available, you’ll find that when you check out, you’ll have a hard time tearing yourself away.

Prices start from £349 for a sea view room for one night for two people. To book, visit booking.com.
