Three easy recipes for your school child

As children grow, they need nutrition from all five healthy groups, as well as vitamins and minerals to support their developing bodies. Therefore, it is extremely important for parents to ensure their children are getting the right nutrition.

Deciding what to give your child for lunch that is tasty, filling, and healthy can be quite a challenge. But don’t worry, we’re here to take that stress off your shoulders.

Here are a few nutrient-dense, easy-to-prepare recipes your child will love:

Rainbow salad jars with tuna and pasta:

Ingredients needed:

  • 75 grams of pasta
  • 50g chopped green beans
  • 40g drained canned tuna
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon yogurt
  • 50g cherry tomatoes, making sure they are cut into quarters
  • ¼ can sweetcorn


Boil the pasta and drain the water. Green beans should be boiled for two minutes before rinsing in cold water. Mix tuna with mayonnaise and yogurt in a separate bowl. While serving, transfer the tuna salad and pasta to a bowl and garnish with green beans, cherry tomatoes, and corn.

Turkey Wraps:


  • Minced 100g cooked turkey
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 flour tortilla
  • ¼ chopped cucumber
  • 2 chopped onions
  • watercress


Marinate the turkey on high with 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce. Grill it until it starts to sizzle. The next step is to heat the tortilla wrap and spread some hoisin sauce on top. Fill the tortillas with grilled turkey, watercress, cucumber and onions. The final step is to roll the tortilla and your healthy, delicious turkey wraps are done.

Pasta salad:


  • 100 grams of pasta
  • ¼ tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon pesto
  • ½ tablespoon yogurt
  • ¼ lemon
  • 50 grams of boiled meat
  • 25 g sliced ​​cherry tomatoes
  • 50 g cooked mixed vegetables


After cooking the pasta, mix in the pesto and let cool. After cooling, mix with mayonnaise, yogurt, lemon juice and greens. While serving, top off the pasta mixture with the meat.
